-char. by detachment & restricted emotionality
-patients are emotionally distant -> fear intimacy
-disinterested in others -> enjoy being alone (not afraid to be) -> work @ night
-voluntary social w/drawal
-indifferent to praise or criticism
-symptoms tend to worsen w/ age
-no psychosis
